It only shows the speed limit based on Google maps navigation.

 

And it is often wrong especially when the speed limit isn’t posted but there are state and local laws that state what the speed limit is if not posted. I have seen 65 and 55 in 45 zones. I have seen 55 in 35 zones. It is not something that I would rely on

 

I have seen it work on my Elite.

 

It’s worked in my elite but not always accurate. Part of it is I’m in IL and our state highway signs are white rectangles with black writing so get interpreted as speed limit signs. The same thing happened on my 18 Accord Hybrid but has to do with the sign.

 

Go to settings then to display and then to instrument cluster.

Correct. Nothing to make it more accurate. You'd probably have to go through google maps on your phone and recommend an update to the speed limit. I know an area right by my house still shows 25mph for 1/4 mile when its really 45. But on my road trips its been pretty good.

 

Can someone clarify. Is sign thing free for life or is an onster feature? I think its a car feature that’s free for life

 

The accuracy is laughable at best in my experience playing with it. Toyota definitely did this way better.

but it says "The system uses information from the onboard navigation-system database".

One statement seems to contradict another.

 

True. I had an Accord Touring and CRV Touring. Both would read signs as soon as you were passing them. The Prologue does work differently. I don’t see it updating speed limits as I drive past signs.
